Subject: NSP GSSVWG meeting vs COVID-19
Importance: High
Dear colleagues
ICAO is taking steps to deal with the potential disruption to meetings of ICAO bodies that could occur due to COVID-19. One of the steps has been to draft a generic text to be sent to all our panel members/meeting participants warning them of the uncertainty ahead. Here is the "official" text, slightly modified according to my best judgment. Could you please also forward it to any of your advisors that plan to attend the 20 - 24 April GSSVWG meeting?
"Dear GSSVWG participant,
The reason I am writing this email is the attention the COVID-19 outbreak is currently receiving, and the fact that we are seeing some upcoming meetings in Europe and Asia being relocated or cancelled.
In order to be on the safe side, I would therefore like to take this opportunity to suggest that we prepare for the remote (I hope) possibility that the meeting may need to be re-scheduled to a later date.
At this time no need for such a re-schedule has been identified. However, to be on the safe side, if you have not made your travel arrangements already, I would like to suggest that you make those in the most flexible manner possible, eg by avoiding to make non-refundable hotel bookings.
Please note that this is just a heads -up, and no change of travel plans is being suggested.
I was told that, prior to meetings in Montreal, all participants will receive a package with information on COVID-19, and advice on disease prevention and treatment.
You will, of course, be informed as soon as there are any new developments. "
Alessandro
